Frank van Kollem is part of the history of Tessellation folding.
He was born in 1950 and died very young in 1997. He folded more than 100 tessellations between 1966 and 1997. This is the same time period in which Fujimoto Sensei and Momotani Sensei where discovering their first tessellations. Because Frank did not have contact with other folders, it is unlikely he had knowledge of the work by his Japanese collegues.
The main characteristics of most of his work are:
- The use of white paper, size 15 x 15 cm
- Division of the paper in a grid of 32 or 64, also diagonally
His mother gave the collection of Franks' work to the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague. There it will be preserved in a good environment.
